When starting a new business, social media marketing is helpful to get the word out about what type of business you are opening and products/services that you offer. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you get started.
Know Your Audience
What products have you created? Who are they for?
Step 1 is answering these questions for yourself.
Tip 1: There is no need to spend any money on social media marketing.
If you are just starting out, you have a basic idea of who your audience will be. That is a great start!
Education is the Key
It is going to take time to spread the word enough times that people know who you are, know about your products, and your brand.
Don’t sweat it. Patience is so important in this beginning step! You can do it!
Spreading word through social media means posting content on a regular basis. This does not mean you have to post everyday. It does mean that whatever days you decide to post (like MWF), remember to keep posting on those days.
Have you heard about Hootsuite? Hootsuite is a free social media scheduling tool. If you use the free Hootsuite version, you have a limited amount of social media channels they will allow you to add, but you can still schedule (at least) a weeks worth of social media content (30 posts max). That is really helpful! Don’t you think? What a time saver!

Tip 2: Look at Other Small Businesses.
Make a list of other small businesses that are similar to your business. Take lots of notes about each business. This is the best way to come up with more ideas to help you with your business. You never know what you may find.
How do they use social media for marketing for their products or services? What type of social media do they use the most?
Instagram is one of the most popular types of social media today. This may not be the best social media application for you to use. You have to be the judge of that.
